The Happy Couple

See that couple right there? Don’t they look happy? They are Erika Meitner and Steven Trost as featured in the New York Times Weddings and Celebrations section. Don’t you love happy couples? Don’t you want to watch short videos layered with smooth jazz music detailing how they met? You don’t? Well, screw you. The New York Times Vows videos are not for you and your cynicism.
No, the Vows videos are for the voyeurs romantics among of us. Those of us who believe in truth, beauty, and weddings that cost at least $100k. Those of us who never worry about dying alone because we, we will fall in love, damnit. Those of us who know, deep in our souls, that falling in love means never having to say we’re sorry.
Alternately, those of us who like to have our fun at the expense of others. Those of us who find it hilarious that this guy’s marriage proposal involved hiring a charicature artist. Those of us who are now feeling relieved that we are single.

Hey All,
I found this googling myself (I know - I am an egomaniac). Just wanted to clear up a few things.
The “this guy” mentioned (you know, the one who hired a charicature artist for his proposal) is NOT me - I hired four monkey trainers (with monkeys) and a butter sculptor. Also, our wedding was not of the >$100,000 variety (although it was WAY better than most of those).
Also also we did not do a video and we HATE smooth jazz.
Just tryin’ to spread the truth and clear my name.
Having said that, thanks for putting us in your blog.
Steve
