The White House received its Christmas tree today. The tree is the 40th to be provided by the National Christmas Tree Growers Association. You can read about it from Reuters, or the First Lady’s page at the White House web site. I feel confident she’ll keep us abreast of all decorational developments at the White House. This year’s theme is “all things bright and beautiful,” which is taken from page 287 in your hymnals.
On a related note, National Christmas Tree Association invites you to play the interactive game, Attack of the Mutant Artificial Trees. Not to quibble over semantics, but I would assume that an artificial tree would be very unlikely to produce mutant offspring, what with being made of plastic and all. Perhaps they meant “defective” rather than mutant. In any case, these no-good trees are attacking.
