The Rentals are back together. I’m not sure how to comment on this appropriately, other than to say, “Wheee!”
Back in the heady days when I was actually a college radio dj, the Rentals were one of my favorite late-night shift staples. The band, featuring Matt Sharp (of Weezer) makes cute poppy indie rock fueled by impeccable boy-girl harmonies and Moog synths — the kind of stuff you might dance around to in your Chuck Taylors when you aren’t too busy being self-aware and world-weary.
