Jelly Belly gets boozy
Jelly Belly (maker of gourmet jelly beans) now has a wine bar, created in conjunction with Wine X Magazine. The bar creates wine tastes by combining existing Jelly Belly flavors. For example, to make De Loach Chardonnay, one would combine the following flavors: Green Apple, Lemon Drop, Juicy Pear, Crushed Pineapple, Peach, French Vanilla and Buttered Toast.
I suppose this could help baby wine snobs figure out how to pick apart the flavors in glasses of cabernet, but I can’t imagine saying you detected a hint of “buttered toast” in a certain vintage. But, I usually keep in the 10 bucks and under range, so what do I know?
The kits are available in quarter-pound increments, with rates running from $17 on up.
