Songs I Am Currently Enjoying Exhibit E: “Worst Song Medley,” by Garfunkel & Oates

My friend Bart (note his blog is often NSFW, although he’s usually good about putting images behind cuts) pointed me to Garfunkel & Oates. The music’s playful and poppy, and it’s great to see a woman-led act in this comedic vein. You can download a whole bunch of their songs right here.
The piece above, “Worst Song Medley” takes on a whole bundle of overplayed pop snippets from the past few years. The bulk of these songs occupy a similar place in my consciousness — they’re all songs to make teenaged girls swoon, the kind of pap that makes it onto the soundtracks of television dramas targeting high school students and become standard fare for awkward slow dances in the gym. They might be terrible songs, but there’s something sweet about them, too.
