Sexual “differences”

Cindy M. Meston and David M. Buss, researchers here at UT, just published a massive study they did of why people (specifically, college-aged people) have sex. The results of the study: men and women have sex for roughly the same reasons.

While the researchers readily acknowledge that the results may vary across age groups, the study still makes a clear case against a lot of scientistic research that aims to explain the differences between men’s and women’s sexual psychology, demonstrating there may well not be one, at least when talking about the sexual practices of relatively young subjects. If you’re not down to read the entire report, you can read a quick and dirty summary of it at Wired.
