I just learned that a piece of film music from Blow Out, the Brian De Palma tribute ot Blow Up is used in Death Proof, Tarantino’s half of Grindhouse. The composer, Pino Domaggio, worked on a number of De Palma pictures, including Body Double, Carrie and Dressed to Kill. The work Domaggio did for these films is lush and creepy — providing perfect atmosphere for the horror films it was tailored for. He also wrote “Io Che Non Vivo, ” his biggest hit and is best known in English “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” by both Elvis Presley and Dusty Springfield.
So, this makes me even more excited about Grindhouse. The soundtrack in general is pretty impressive. If nothing else, Tarantino knows how to work a soundtrack.
