When Worlds Collide
I just read Henry Jenkins’s newest book, Convergence Culture: Where Old and New Media Collide. I highly recommend the book, which has turned me on to a number of interesting ideas as well as a lot of interesting media works, like Sadie Benning’s early video works done with a Fisher Price PXL-2000, and Evan Mather’s clever animation.
I now very badly want Adobe After Effects and a PXL-2000. Ebay says a working camera can be mine for the low, low price of $375. Maybe I’ll stick to one of the neo-PXLs, like the Vidster or VCam Now, both of which retail for around $80.
